Kristy Sieve Took the Reins of Mertz Design and Built It Into Proof That Women-Led Creative Studios Can Play at Any Level.

Most agencies will tell you they’re strategic. Fewer can show you what that actually looks like when a product hits the shelf.

Brand strategy is easy to claim. It is harder to deliver consistently, across emerging startups and enterprise clients, across packaging and product design and animation, across the full arc of what it takes to help a company grow into who it is trying to become. The studios that can do all of it, and do it well, are rarer than the industry’s crowded landscape suggests.
Kristy Sieve knows this because she has spent years building one.

Mertz Design Studio is a Cincinnati-based brand strategy, product design, and animation studio — the external creative department for companies ranging from ambitious founders to household names like P&G, Bayer, and Molson Coors. The work is serious. The portfolio speaks for itself. But getting here, Sieve is the first to say, required more than creative talent.

Taking the reins of a business means inheriting its gaps alongside its strengths. Building a culture of accountability. Developing real systems. Leading a team through hard seasons with no playbook and no guarantee. She figured it out the way most women entrepreneurs do — by refusing to stop.

“Launching a product is hard,” she says. “Launching it well is harder. We built Mertz into a studio that holds the whole thing, brand strategy, design, and animation, so founders can stop guessing and actually go.”

Today, Mertz Design is growing its client roster, building toward a scalable new business engine, and developing a new AI-powered service line designed to move the studio from referral-dependent to revenue-predictable. Beyond the studio, Sieve has become involved in the American Heart Association’s work on women’s heart health because she believes in building up the women around her.
Visibility, she says, is infrastructure. Mertz Design has spent years proving that the creative kind is, too.
