About the #WICxALLIES Campaign

The Women in Cloud community isn’t just women in cloud; a vital component of the WIC community are the allies who work to advocate, include and sponsor women in technology.

In order to further reach, recruit and recognize the allies in the WIC community, Women in Cloud will partner with Gavriella Schuster and the #ALLIES campaign to share the framework that sets out the behaviors that allies can demonstrate every day, and showcasing those who are making a difference.

Market Challenges

Representation

Thirty years ago, the computing women workforce was 36 per cent, and as of 2019 that number had fallen to 27 per cent, creating a gap of 8 million women in the tech workforce.

Procurement & Supplier Diversity

Only 3 percent of corporate procurement dollars and 5 percent of federal contracts are going to women-owned firms. This situation is exacerbated by investors reducing their investment in women led tech companies taking it to less than 2 per cent.

Mentorship

80 percent of women entrepreneurs seek mentorship from industry leaders.

Leadership Roles & Recruitment

Women make up more than half of the US population and are getting more college degrees than men, but women only hold roughly 25 per cent of leadership roles – while less than 5 per cent of leadership positions in tech companies are held by women.

The Birth of a Movement

Women in Cloud partners with tech-industry leader Gavriella Schuster to bring you WICxALLIES.

As part of the campaign, WIC is pleased to announce the first ever WICxALLIES Awards, recognizing the individuals who demonstrate allyship by empowering women by Advocacy, Listening, Lifting, Including, Elevating and Sponsoring.

Allies are the men and women building for inclusion through their everyday actions to bring more women into their network, organization and leadership roles.

The #WICxALLIES Awards are a unique opportunity to acknowledge those who have supported your entrepreneurial and professional journey through their Advocacy, Listening, Lifting, Including, Elevating and Sponsoring.

On January 26, 2022, during the #WICxAnnualSummit, Women in Cloud will recognize and award allies for their work to build inclusive processes for outreach (recruiting and hiring), mentorship and empowerment of women in tech.

#WICxALLIES Overall Allies Award

This award is given to a leader and ally who clearly demonstrates their work to advocate, empower and sponsor women in tech.

Eligibility: ALLIES who act to Advocate, Listen, Lift, Include, Elevate and Sponsor women in their network with examples of outcomes being:

Financial Empowerment – Nominee provides access to manage $1M budget responsibility or more
Sponsorship – Nominee provides access and sponsorship to lead strategic initiatives for the organization
Mentorship – Nominee acts as a mentor within a community, accelerator or other publicly shared organization
Supplier Ecosystem – Nominee is a champion for making supplier ecosystems diverse and inclusive
Organizational Ecosystem – Nominee hires diverse candidates and elevates individuals by providing them opportunities to be more visible

#WICxALLIES Sponsor Award

This award is given to a leader and ally who clearly demonstrates their work to sponsor women in tech through financial empowerment and mentorship.

Eligibility: The nominee should provide access to manage $1M budget responsibility, sponsorship to lead strategic initiatives for the organization and/or acts as a mentor within a community, accelerator or other publicly shared organization

This award is given to a leader and ally who clearly demonstrates their work to advocate for women in tech through their supplier and organizational ecosystems.

Eligibility: The nominee should be a champion for making supplier ecosystems diverse and inclusive and/or hires diverse candidates and elevates individuals by providing them opportunities to be more visible
